What is a Fat Quarter?

One quarter of a square yard (or metre) of fabric, cut to about 18x22 inches. A fat quarter gives a larger piece of fabric than would be possible from a regular quarter-yard, including strips that are twice as long on the fabric's (less stretchy) lengthwise grain. If you order multiples of fat quarters they are always cut as one continuous piece, so if you want one yard, just order 4.

Variations in colour

Every effort is made to ensure the photos of the fabrics represent them as accurately as possible. If you are unsure about the colour of a fabric, please get in touch as I may be able to send a sample. It is worth checking that your monitor is set-up correctly. Many of the screenprinted fabrics have natural variations characteristic of the process which is part of their charm!

Fabric care

Cottons and linens are machine washable in cold water (30° or less) preferably using non-biological washing liquid. Screenprinted fabrics should be washed by hand. We do not recommend drying fabrics in a tumble drier. Do prewash all fabric before using to avoid shrinkage on a completed sewing project.
